Look how big!

Can't believe that Scarlett is now 11 months old! She does lots of fun tricks now like clapping, pointing, crawling, standing up, and talking in her own language. She's so much fun! And Shelly reports that she just got her first tooth! Now those cheerios she loves so much will be so much easier for her to enjoy.

Meet our new pet

This is our new cat Rex...er Kiki. I know what you're thinking. It DOES look like Matt is stealing the cat, but Laurie and Andre said it was okay, I swear. Really, they're just cuddling.

No more diploma frame!

Yes, folks. After five long years of living in this apartment, I have finally convinced Matt that the diploma frame needs to go. That joke was funny for a while, but it definitely wore off after a while. Plus, Syracuse is old news. Matt is an MIT man now.

WHOSE BATHROOM IS THAT?

The Flahuvan renovations of the downstairs bathroom continues....and continues... CAN YOU BELIEVE THESE PICS THOUGH? It's almost done, yo.

In Memory of Jo Jo 4

Jo Jo 4 was a good fish. He liked to swim around A LOT. And he always ate all of his food. In fact, you could say that he begged every time we came down the stairs or near his bowl, swimming energetically near the top of his water. But, I am saddened to report that Jo Jo 4 is no longer with us. It appears as though he committed suicide, or maybe just accidentally got too excited about his evening swim -- Matt found one morning that he was missing from his bowl, and then subsequently noticed that Jo Jo was lying on the floor nearby. Are we that bad as parents!?!?

So sad.

A moment of silence for Jo Jo 4, please.

I love being an aunt!

...and Matt is an uncle, if you want to get technical. Please meet Scarlett Grace, Shelly and Josh's beautiful new baby girl, and our new friend.

We hung out this weekend - you know, me holding Scarlett's head up and Scarlett just trying to get her arms free from her swaddle me blanket. Every once in while she would open her eyes or get hungry. She really wore me out!

What an adventure this whole birth thing/becoming an aunt was! Shelly was AWESOME during the delivery and made it look easy. Didn't even break a sweat! She and Scarlett are doing great.

Did I mention she's the cutest?

Our Fish Died...But It's Going to Be Okay

It turns out that Thursday night was really freaking cold...maybe the coldest night of the winter so far. Unfortunately for the Flahuvans, the heat of our building was mysteriously turned off on Thursday night. When we got home from Leah & Jason's house late, we just bundled up quickly and hopped in to bed wearing several layers (and a hat in Matt's case).

We noticed that JoJo 3's water was very cold and he wasn't moving very much. In hopes of saving him, we moved his bowl next to the heater in hopes that it would turn on during the night. Alas, it did not, and when we got up in the morning we realized that JoJo 3 didn't make it (and the heat never went on).

We told a lot of people on Friday what had happened, including a couple of other people who live in our building. Turns out everyone's heat was off the whole night and no one really knows why. Anyways, there was a knock on the door this afternoon and it was our neighbor, Alan with a new Beta fish. He said it's from the building because they felt bad. SO NOW WE HAVE JO JO 4! We usually mourn our fish for a few months at least before getting a replacement, but I think we can accept this one early! Meet JoJo 4 - isn't he pretty?
