Jo Jo 4 was a good fish. He liked to swim around A LOT. And he always ate all of his food. In fact, you could say that he begged every time we came down the stairs or near his bowl, swimming energetically near the top of his water. But, I am saddened to report that Jo Jo 4 is no longer with us. It appears as though he committed suicide, or maybe just accidentally got too excited about his evening swim -- Matt found one morning that he was missing from his bowl, and then subsequently noticed that Jo Jo was lying on the floor nearby. Are we that bad as parents!?!?
So sad.
A moment of silence for Jo Jo 4, please.

I love being an aunt!
We hung out this weekend - you know, me holding Scarlett's head up and Scarlett just trying to get her arms free from her swaddle me blanket. Every once in while she would open her eyes or get hungry. She really wore me out!
What an adventure this whole birth thing/becoming an aunt was! Shelly was AWESOME during the delivery and made it look easy. Didn't even break a sweat! She and Scarlett are doing great.
Did I mention she's the cutest?

Our Fish Died...But It's Going to Be Okay

It turns out that Thursday night was really freaking cold...maybe the coldest night of the winter so far. Unfortunately for the Flahuvans, the heat of our building was mysteriously turned off on Thursday night. When we got home from Leah & Jason's house late, we just bundled up quickly and hopped in to bed wearing several layers (and a hat in Matt's case).
We noticed that JoJo 3's water was very cold and he wasn't moving very much. In hopes of saving him, we moved his bowl next to the heater in hopes that it would turn on during the night. Alas, it did not, and when we got up in the morning we realized that JoJo 3 didn't make it (and the heat never went on).
We told a lot of people on Friday what had happened, including a couple of other people who live in our building. Turns out everyone's heat was off the whole night and no one really knows why. Anyways, there was a knock on the door this afternoon and it was our neighbor, Alan with a new Beta fish. He said it's from the building because they felt bad. SO NOW WE HAVE JO JO 4! We usually mourn our fish for a few months at least before getting a replacement, but I think we can accept this one early! Meet JoJo 4 - isn't he pretty?
